shocking ...
As most of you know we live on a one acre property surrounded by forest and farmland with a very loud concession road approximately 200 feet from the front of our house..now don't quote me on that distance because I was never good in judging things when math was involved ...anyhow....with the addition of puppy and the fact that she is small and can escape my fenced yard in the back...which she has done on a daily basis since we got her 2 months ago and has continually given me a near death experience each time she ventures out....I decided to have the invisible fence installed....yah yah I know ..she will get shocked....oh how inhumane the critics will say... but getting hit by a 2 ton truck is probably far worse....right....so the install was today...and the start of the initial training........yes laughing over here....because my pup seems to withstand a lot of shock....thick skin I think was what the trainer had said...until I suspected that maybe something was wrong...so I put my fingers on the prongs of the collar while walking through the zone...and felt nuthin......yep ....tolerating pain seems to be no problem for us girls in this house..I clearly remember pushing out 9 and 10 pound babies without a scream....lol... okay...I screamed a little...anyways getting back to the training.....its seems that the collar was a dud....yep...not working...no wonder Kaycee was looking at us like lunatics and not reacting....so a new collar was used and although she lifted her ears and retreated from the zone area she probably will need the zapping cranked up a bit.....lol....I will keep you posted ...next week we test her outside....the things I have done for this pup I never thought I would do in a lifetime...guess the silly pup has grown on me ...but just a wee bit....lol

friends, fun and fireworks...
Shawna and her family finally made it up to the Koscak's on Saturday for some fireworks, BBQ and fun... it had be close to 4 years since we had a get together with both of our families. All the kids have grown but still got along amazingly...and with the hubby's inside chatting...we were able to sit by the campfire sharing some drinks...okay more than a few....some laughs and just being "us". Shawna and I had an instant connection when we met each other 13 years ago when I strolled past her desk at my new job and announced that I was the new broker who would be sitting along side her..we found out quickly how much we had in common...and from that day....we have stayed connected..and although we both had some difficult years...we have grown to be strong independent woman and damn good mothers I might add. She is a great friend....a true friend...a friend for life. Thanks for coming over ...see you soon.
Canada day..
We had an impromptu get together Canada day after spending the entire day wondering when the rain was going to start. My aunt came over with her family including her new baby grandson Seth who is such a bundle of joy..one of the most content and happiest babies I have ever seen. As mom and dad played volleyball with my kids...Gamma Maggie cuddled her grandson with delight. Kaycee was also very interested in the baby and followed whomever was holding Seth ready to lick his face any chance she got....and although it rained ..we made the best of the evening huddling around the campfire and sitting under the umbrella when the downpour came. Luckily my teenager and his friend have no problem being in charge of the pyrotechnics.... lighting the night sky for us all to enjoy. In fact the kids are getting so old now... we the parents can actually sit back and enjoy company without having to help someone be fed, deal with a toddler meltdown or put someone to bed. We had a great evening and were happy that once again we spent Canada Day with Margie and Dave...it seems to becoming a Koscak tradition.

dear blog...
....forgive me for not paying attention to you but I have been a little preoccupied with a pup ... a pup who has turned my world upside down with her antics ...whom I have witnessed on many of occasion to chase her tail to dizziness and exhaustion, but not before playing the old grab and go game finding the best pair of underwear from the laundry bin and ripping the crotch to shreds all while proceeding on route to the living room whereby she drags her rear across my carpet to alleviate her butt gland problem .. while chasing a mother of an ant that goes up her nose ...and flickering in annoyance...(me and her) I retrieve the critter until she squirms out of my arms to find an old water bottle left on the floor ..running and hitting the walls playing the catch and come game....making enough noise to wake the dead..she heads outside for her potty break.... but not before making a beeline to my lovely perennial garden...whereby she grabs and destroys a few flower petals and privacy branches and then does her business on top of my hosta..."nice"....and while I heed the chase she flies back into the house stealing a paper clip from the "off-limit office" area and me ..like a fool trying to bribe her with a treat for the exchange..yes she ignores me and the clip goes down..... oh no blog...I am telling the truth...this is a real typical day....and now as I am looking for my "puppy bag" I am off to puppy classes hoping that we won't be kicked out although the dirty looks from on-lookers is getting annoying.....yes someday I will have a well behaved dog!!! OH VEY!!!!

puppy training over here...
I don't have a minute to spare...all eyes are on KAYCEE...I am on poop patrol and must keep her within my sight at all times making sure to avoid any accidents.....and let me tell you....its been a full time job...I found myself watching TLC's Baby story Monday morning while watching KAYCEE...it reminded me of my newborn days with the kids....instead of going for a run or taking a shower...I was watching Kaycee....thankfully the crate has been a lifesaver allowing me to take a quick shower or make dinner...yep just like having a baby all over again!

our little girl turns 6 today...
Its funny....6 years ago today I had no clue what child I was going to meet when I went into labour for the 3rd time. During my pregnancy I kept hoping I was having another boy since I already knew how to manage boys....besides what did I know about girls....I was a tomboy as a child beating up all those girly girls who played with dolls and wore pony tails. The last thing I wanted was a girl in my life who would be sensitive and squeamish. I liked being the only girl in the house and I certainly didn't want a little girl to mess things up with her pink purses, barbies and lip gloss...but all that changed when Katie was placed on my tummy...screaming loudly to be heard and scrunching up her bright red face in anger announcing to the world that she had arrived and was not a girl to be messed with. She had a fire in her belly that made me proud and I knew she would be a lot like me. Living up to that reputation over the past 6 years her independence has served her well. She can handle her brothers with ease...parenting them when they need it, she can pack a punch with the best of them and do it when no one is looking while at the same time showing her maternal side grabbing a Kleenex or band aid when some one needs it...yes..she turned out to be exactly the girl we needed in this family and even though she does have a room full of pink stuff we are thankful for her life. Happy 6th birthday Kaitlyn!
